چکیده

Dried stigma of saffron is the most expensive spice in world. In Iran, majority farms use traditional basin method for irrigation, which, together with other irrigation methods may soon face serious problems because droughts future. Making an evaluation regional crop response to important adoption a proper management strategy. this study, effect employing different methods, including sprinkler, drip, furrow, and basin, on following factors was evaluated: dry weight, quality, water efficiency (WUE), Irrigation (IWUE) arid climate Qaen, South Khorasan, over three consecutive years. The experiment undertaken using randomized complete block design replications. results showed that seasonal Evapotranspiration (ETC) recorded as 356.5, 339.1, 330.7 mm, 2003, 2004 2005 respectively, result administering treatments. Saffron yield well WUE IWUE were found respond various except first year. total, maximum weight efficiencies reached third growing season drip method. Judging by results, production be preferred. Additionally, quality level acceptable. However, due higher crocin content, irrigated sprinkler somewhat higher.
